We were still in Makati when the boyfriend voiced out that he was craving for steak. It must have been because we passed by I Am Angus on the way to MOA. And since we were celebrating our second anniversary anyway, we decided to splurge
a little and had dinner at Highlands Steakhouse. 🙂
Walking into the restaurant felt like walking in a log cabin. It really looks like you’re in Tagaytay sans the chilly breeze. Others may think it’s so tacky, especially with the cowboy uniforms of the staff, but I have no issue with it at all. 😀 For me, it’s like dining countryside. 😀
We went with their set menu. This includes a soup, a salad, a main and their dessert of the day. Wouldn’t it be nice if they could at least two options for the soup, dessert or salad? Anyway, the boyfriend went with John Wayne’s Prime Rib. His set costs about Php1,600. I chose the Roast Lamb Rack for my main, which racked us Php1,400.
Our (without sounding territorial) waitstaff was the best. He was very attentive but not intrusive. He simply lurked around corners, checking if B needs an iced tea refill. He was also very quick to answer our questions about our food. He knew their restaurant and menu by heart. 😀
We were served bread and butter, which we quickly finished. Not long after, our soup arrived. We both liked it! It had a very meaty flavor because of the sausage and bacon strips in it.
Here is my salad with caesar dressing. Babe opted for honey mustard. I didn’t finish the entire plate because of the bell peppers. The caesar dressing was a tad too salty. I liked their honey mustard dressing more.
Babe finished his plate though. 🙂 How come the veggies look more vibrant in B’s photo? :p
The main course was served after 10 minutes, I think. But they were kind enough to inform us that our plates will arrive behind schedule. While waiting, we busied ourselves with arguments over who was the real lucky charm between the two of us because only two tables were occupied when we came in, and like celebrities being stalked by persistent fans, people flooded in when we settled in our seats. Haha.
Babe’s plate is so appetizing! That slab of meat is so big and thick. Even nicer, the meat is juicy and really flavorful.
It’s definitely a plate for the big boys. 🙂 B was doubting himself if he could finish this plate but he did! 🙂
My lamb was good and flavorful. It came with veggies, mashed potato (you can have it with rice, if you want) and mint jelly. The crusted herbs layered on top of the meat had a very curious taste.
I didn’t like it so I removed it from the meat and enjoyed the lamb on its own. I swear, eating that big rack had Katy Perry trooping to MOA to sing me her Fireworks song. 😀 The mashed potatoes were a little cold. But the texture is worth applauding. 🙂
We almost forgot we still had dessert coming up because we were so darn full. It has been a while since I ate that much meat or even any other food. We were given a generous slice of chocolate cake. Sadly, I forgot to ask what type, but mine was an even bigger *evil laugh* slice of chocolate cake.
Besides their awesome food, I have to give their service two thumbs up. They were very quick and efficient. Billing out took less than three minutes, I think. Hmm. Or maybe because they weren’t that packed that night? Nevertheless, it was a great dinner to end our anniversary date. 🙂
