I’ve heard about NYX from so many friends but didn’t really pay attention to the hype since I thought it was just a local brand. I’m not really a big fan of local cosmetic brands so I did not jump on board the whole NYX bandwagon when it started rolling. My friend also got in the whole online selling business, stocking up on a bunch of NYX cosmetics but that didn’t convince me to get one.
It was a couple of weeks ago when I finally decided to give the brand a try. There are so many reviews about NYX products that i just had to give in. But where do I buy one? Well, Allison of Flight of Ideas blogged about an EOS lip balm she purchased from Stuffinstyle in Multiply. She mentioned that prices there were cheaper. And so I ordered away.

I bought three tubes of NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Amsterdam, Sao Paulo and Stockholm. Stuffinstyle sells them for only Php270 a tube, 30 pesos cheaper than most Multiply sites. I received the package about a week ago and used them the day after. Hoozah!
I’m actually surprised that I liked ‘em because I’m not really a big fan of lipsticks, lip gloss or lip balms that come with an applicator. I can’t seem to get the hang of countouring the color according to my lip shape. You see, I have thin lips. The photo below will prove that–you can barely see my upper lip. Haha!

Pigmentation is really good. When I’m feeling like a diva (Haha!), I wear the Amsterdam shade. On days I’m feeling pretty, the Sao Paulo’s my choice. The Stockholm shade, I use when I’m wearing heavy make-up. It smells nice too, which kind of reminds me of this chocolate/vanilla body mousse I used to wear.
But true to what most beauty reviews have mentioned, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream doesn’t offer much in terms of staying power. I often bite my lip so I usually find the color gone in an hour or two. I try really hard not to bite or lick my lips when I’m wearing this.
This is best worn with a layer of lip balm underneath for a smoother application. When the cream dries on my lips, I find it similar to the texture of oil pastel. Haha. It doesn’t taste awful though.
Nevertheless, the color payoff is amazing. While I won’t use this for special occasions, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (methinks) is the perfect substitute for my lipstick. At least, I won’t easily use up my pricier lipsticks, di ba?
