What It’s Like To Have A Sneakerhead Boyfriend

It’s been ages since I last blogged! The horror. I apologize to the very few readers who visit my blog. The past week has been horrifyingly hectic. I actually haven’t turned on my laptop for a week, settling for poor mobile access. But don’t worry, I’m back and I’ve lots of posts to write! ๐Ÿ™‚

Okay, so on to what this post is all about. Obviously, I couldn’t be any more straightforward with my title. Har.

I have to admit that I am not a sneaker fan. For the longest time, I’ve been the girl who’s always in flip-flops or open-toed high heels. I like letting my feet breathe, you see. I guess you could say that my feet are claustrophobic. ๐Ÿ˜€ Ballet flats are actually a bit alien to me as well until I started borrowing my sister’s pairs.ย Just last week however, I’ve added another type of footwear to my limited preferences. Yes, I actually now own a pair of sneakers. Some of you may find this quite shallow but this is major news for me since I’ve never really worn sneakers since, uhm, never. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nike Air Max 1 Glacier Blue

It all started with a text: “Babe may kasalanan ako sa ‘yo“. Immediately, I thought he bought another pair of sneakers (I sort of banned him from buying another pair ’cause he has quite a large collection already). Turns out, he bought me my own sneakers–this cool Nike Air Max 1 Glacier Blue pair.

I had no idea–actually I still don’t–how to dress up with these. I don’t own a pair of flared jeans (although this is closet staple) and I think I have the world’s biggest calves so I’m still a bit iffy about pairing these with shorts.

I was deathly terrified of wearing this to work, but I mustered the courage and ended up looking this on a Tuesday morning, two days after the boyfriend delivered it to my house.

I swear it's the camera angle, I don't look that short. Right?

I’m mighty proud that I was able to pull it off (I did, right?) even though I look like a college dancer or something. Also, pardon my face. I was trying to channel the inner sneakerhead in me or something. Obviously, I need to work on it some more. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nike Air Max 1 Solar Red

Just when I thought it was the first and last pair I’ll ever own, I bought another one when we were in Subic last weekend. Camille spotted these babies and I thought it was adorably feminine for a pair of sneakers. I didn’t plan on buying it until B spotted it too and convinced me to get them.

Air Max Party in Makati!

Here’s a photo of me (or just my legs) wearing the Solar Red AM1’s. Pictured with me is the boyfriend’s new pair (Air Max 1 West Varsity Red) and Camille’s new Air Max 1. They bought theirs in Subic, while I got mine somewhere north too.

Having a boyfriend who spends a lot of time browsing sneakers online and in stores, I learned to appreciate the beauty of a well-designed pair. Sure it doesn’t offer the same elevation (what I need) as my high heels, but they’re insanely comfortable!ย I wish we could find a pair of couple sneakers (is there such a thing?) ’cause were cheesy like that. ๐Ÿ˜€

Apparently, this is what it’s like to have a sneakerhead boyfriend–you slowly turn into one too. Hmm, I wonder though if the same could be said to a guy who has a stiletto addict for a girlfriend? I kid, I kid. ๐Ÿ™‚
