Well, I’m happy to report that my opinion about peanut butter (or anything that resembles it) remains unchanged. I really dislike it to the point that no matter how pestered my Instagram feed is with Trader Joe’s Speculoos Crunchy Cookie Butter, it never did convince me to go get a bottle for me to try. Perhaps it’s because I consider anything brown, gooey and gunky as my kryptonite (second to milk).
When I met up with the best friend and her boyfriend at the airport, I found myself face to face with the infamous “Cookie Butter” of Pancake House’s Cookie Butter Pancakes. Part of their Designer Pancake series, we were eye-f*cked to ordering this because there was a blown up photo of this on our table. :p
First things first… the pancakes were tiny! I have small hands and each pancake was smaller than my palm. I thought it was pretty damn pricey for a stack of mini pancakes smothered with peanut butter. Nevertheless, I dug my fork into this stack and enjoyed all the calories. 🙂
I’m gonna be honest here and say that it’s actually pretty good. However, I only had one and a half pancake because my brain kept telling me that I was eating peanut butter even though I really wasn’t. The big scoop of cookie butter on top kept sliding off the top, proof that they at least didn’t scrimp on the Cookie Butter. The plating looks marvelous and it actually tastes yummy but I don’t think I’ll pay another Php250+ (forgot the actual price) for this.
If you’re curious to try this, don’t expect the usual pancake sizes Pancake House serves. 🙂
