Do you like garlic? I do! Trying Krazy Garlik is a long time coming. The restaurant has been around for a couple of years now but never have I blogged about it, right? Besides this encounter I’m about to write about, I’ve only been here once. That time, I wasn’t able to take photos or even try their food (just their tea)–for reasons I don’t even remember anymore.
When we browsed their menu, I was honestly expecting odd and unique dishes with in-your-face garlic flavors. However, it wasn’t the case for nothing “garlic-y” stood out in the menu. I have to be honest here and say that I felt a little dismayed by the “false” advertising. Sorry, I can’t find a more fitting word. 😐
We had the Spinach and Cream for appetizer that’s stuffed with spinach and cream cheese. It was a pretty and tasty dish, but a bit expensive. I think there were just 5 (or 6?) wantons per plate. This was also served with salsa and kimchi.
Oh cholesterol! Haha. Krazy Garlik’s Tuna Belly was a joy to eat. The sauteed garlic smothered on top of the grilled tuna belly gave it a more intense flavor. Of course, a soy sauce-vinegar dip accompanied this dish. It doesn’t look like it can feed two persons but it can. It’s a thick slab.
Their Beef Salpicao was another hit! Despite the olives overpowering the garlic, it was a pretty amazing dish. If you’re okay with olives, this should be a winner for you. Plus, the beef tenderloins were so tender and juicy too. It was a delight to eat!
The only dish we ordered that included rice, Krazy Garlik’s grilled Salmon dish was delicious! It was the only dish on our table that we felt like was worth the price because it had vegetables and rice. :p I cannot begin to explain how much we loved the salmon. True to their description in the menu, it was hot off the grill!
It was a Friday night when we visited Krazy Garlik, so we felt it was necessary to have a carafe of some cocktail on our table. :p We had the Apple Lagoon because it sounded nice. :p It’s supposed to be a mix of vodka, lemon, and apple but when we drank it, it was so wrong! It tasted so minty–and not minty nice like a mojito ha! It was a “lagoon” right because it was blue but we didn’t get any hint of the lemon and apple.
We also ordered Schezuan Chicken & Shrimp but they forgot about it. Next time na lang. :p
While I entered the restaurant with high hopes of experiencing a rollercoaster garlic ride, it turned out to be quite a nice dinner spread in the end. Sure, we were seeking knockout garlic flavors but good grub is still worthy of two thumbs up right?
Thank you to my lovely dates that evening!
I hope they fix the restaurant’s lighting. It looks a bit dark and moody, and totally un-garlic themed. :p
