Remember the hype surrounding IHOP when it opened here in Manila? Well, it has finally died down. And when it did, that’s when I came swooping in like a thief in the night (LOL!) to give the famed restaurant a try. 😉
To my delight, there were no people waiting to be seated when we arrived. We were simply told to go
upstairs and choose our own seats. Immediately, my eyes went to the dark wood interior that reminded me
of being in a homey cabin in Baguio. 🙂
Before we went to IHOP, I was already keen on trying one particular dish that piqued my interest. Reading about this dish from another blog really helped seal the deal, especially since the blogger was so impressed with it. What’s the dishes? Bacon Temptation Omelette. The name itself is tempting, right?
The Bacon Temptation Omelette has cheese sauce, jack and cheddar cheeses, and topped with diced bacon and tomatoes. Although I didn’t like the sprinkling of grated cheeses around the omelette, it wasn’t enough to distract me from the yummy bacon!
It could use more stuffing inside but to do so would be too much I think since I struggled to finish this. I wonder if you can ask for whole bacon strips on the side instead of diced ones on top, though? Hmm. I need to ask that next time.
The Bacon Temptation Omelette came with two pancakes, which you can upgrade for a flavoured one. I went with the regular Buttermilk Pancakes. They are the “house of pancakes” so their regular pancakes should-must-need to taste good right? While some would love how light and fluffy it is, I found it bland and perhaps too “airy.”
But what would pancakes be without syrup? I tried all four of them and can recommend Butter Pecan or Old Fashioned. Never mind the fake-tasting blueberry and strawberry syrup. 😛
What did the boyfriend have? A very manly meal called Sirloin Steak Tips Dinner. I got envious for a bit because B’s food looked really appetizing. There’s so much going on in this plate–sirloin steak grilled with onions and mushroom, mashed potatoes, buttered corn, and even bread. Wheew!
We both loved the sirloin steak, which was tremendously juicy, tender, and flavorful! I wasn’t expecting this to win us over since we were bracing for the pancakes to take the trophy but it did! The mashed potato was surprisingly good too. It wasn’t too heavy and just like the pancakes, it was kind of airy. 🙂
I also loved the Splashberry–so refreshing! It’s like a blend of Sprite/7Up, orange juice, and perhaps strawberry syrup. It reminds me so much of Poco Deli’s Citrus Delight. 🙂
This device was pretty cool. It was my first time seeing such a thing! 🙂
