A little backgrounder on this trip: I don’t always get to travel these days. With adult responsibilities taking up most of my financial obligations and my work draining all my energy, I usually prefer quiet nights at home or chill drinking sessions at friends’ homes. Then again, it’s such a lame excuse right? Thank goodness I have amazing work friends who spend a lot of their free time browsing seat sales! I was in Coron when I received a text from these friends, informing me there’s a seat sale and they’re thinking of heading to Bohol and Cebu. Although I’ve been to those places before, I’ve always been curious as to what it’s like to travel sans my boyfriend. All-girls vacation? Yes, please! <3
The formula is this: four days, three nights, two places, one memorable trip for us girls.
I knew we were in for one crazy vacation and proof of that is the airport debacle we experienced in Manila. We all met up at Terminal 4 because it was what’s printed in our itinerary receipt. However, it wasn’t until we had only an hour before takeoff did one of us realize that we were actually supposed to be at Terminal 3. So there we were, three twentysomethings panicking in the early morning on how to get to Terminal 3 on time because the traffic jam was terrible. Thankfully, the Uber my friends rode going to Terminal 4 was still in the area. We were able to book him just before the roundabout past the old terminal, so he was able to circle back to us. 😀
As if that little snafu didn’t ruffle our feathers enough, we were ready to board (!!!) when one of the two Kats (for clarity’s sake, I’ll call one M and the other T) I was traveling with realized that she lost her boarding pass (!!!). While me and T were checking our bags, pockets, the floor, the areas we’ve been to for the boarding pass, M remained cool and calm. Her chill demeanor was just about to unhinge me when she eventually realized that the only other place she hasn’t looked was this hotdog stall where we had a snack. It was quite a walk but she did find it there and we were able to board the aircraft without causing a delay. Wheew. Crisis averted!
Thankfully, our trip hit no more snags the second our aircraft departed Manila. We arrived in Tagbilaran City just past noon and we immediately booked a van/cab to Henann Resort Bohol. It was a relaxing, leisurely drive to the resort. As soon as the van turned to the resort and drove up to this sprawling driveway, I got excited. It was gorgeous and even from afar, looked topnotch!
The spacious lobby offered a spectacular view of the modern yet cozy lobby and gorgeous swimming pools. Checking in was a breeze and we were pleasantly surprised when the front desk officer handed us a map and pointed where we would find the beach, the villas, the restaurant, etc. How big is this resort?
The room we checked in to didn’t offer a view of the pool, but of the front driveway of the resort, which was a bummer. Nevertheless, we loved the room! The beds were big and comfy, the bathroom nice and clean. We even had a small balcony, perfect for smokers. Haha.
As soon as we got settled in our room, we quickly changed into our swimsuits and headed to the pool area. They had about 6 (or was it 7, 8?) pools and half of them are located in the “upper level.”
Some rooms have direct access to the pool, therefore direct access to the pool bar too. We saw two towel bars too, with a staff manning each station all the time. That afternoon was spent poolside and we waited until the sun was setting before we checked out the pools near the beach.
It was absolutely breathtaking! Look at that view. That was money well spent for us. 😀 With music blaring from the pool bar, the sound of water splashing around us, laughter and small talks enveloping us, and the distant crashing of the waves coming together for one hypnotic tropical symphony, summer came to life on that fine November afternoon.
We hung out poolside and watched the sun set. We soon went back to our room, ordered room service for dinner and danced silly in our room (dripping swimsuits still included). We soon went back to the pool area and stayed there until closing time. There were pool staff hovering around us, waiting for us to wrap up our little party, as we were the only guests in the pool. 😀
Breakfast the next day was spectacular. They have a wide variety of choices which included freshly fried bacon (!!!), congee, toast, salad, bread, noodles and whatnot. Guests will have a tough time picking what to have for breakfast–we did! So sorry that I can’t provide photos. But I promise you that their breakfast buffet is worth it.
Of course, we spent the whole day in the water. Since it was November, there really wasn’t much of a crowd at the beach. It was perfect. The sand was fine, the water was warm and the beach was absolutely clean. I think we spent a good three hours lounging in the beach before we transferred to the pools and had lunch poolside. 😀
If you’re considering a comfortable and luxurious vacation in Bohol, I would recommend Henann Resort. Service is impeccable, food is good and rooms are modern and spacious. I can assure you that booking your stay at Henann Resort is one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. <3
